Happy Snow Day! Oh wait… I didn’t get one. When the stock market is open, my office is open – and the stock market doesn’t shut down for inclement weather. Anyway, the snow isn’t even bad in the city yet, so I don’t know what the whole “snowpocolypse” business is about…
Apparently its been the week of white dresses (here and here if you missed them), so why not keep it up with my Etsy picks of the week from the shop We Love Yu/ Parson’s grad designer Ee-Lyn Tang:

(same dresses in plain light)
How pretty are these custom-made wedding dresses? The sleek and modern and she can make them in other colors for other formal events! Draping is one of her specialties and I just adore the clean, feminine lines of her pieces. There are only a few in her Etsy store, but she also has a website and online shop with other gowns and cocktail dresses (the Campbell bowtie dress might be my fave).
Since I’m supposedly going to be snowed in tomorrow, I’m planning a big closet purge! I have a number of things that I’ve worn 0 to 2 times that I’d love to find another home for, but they fall into the “a little too nice to just give away” and “not quite nice enough to make the effort to consign” categories… (mostly dresses from Trina Turk, Abaeté, Milly, BCBG, etc. that originally retailed from $200-$500) Does anyone else have this problem? I’ve seen a few people use their blog to try to sell some of their unworn or gently used items for a lot less, but I’ve never personally bought anything from them. How you yall feel about this? Any other thoughts about giving clothes away other than taking them to Goodwill? I’d love to hear any ideas… Have a great weekend ladies!

Comment by S.Elisabeth February 7, 2010 @ 7:20 pmAnd I have seen blogs be used; it seems quite legitimate and the perfect solution to your problems!
Beautiful dresses. A lot of bloggers offer a “marketplace link” on their blogs to sell items.
Comment by SASY February 7, 2010 @ 5:44 pmUm, I will take all of them off your hands if you’d like
I think consigning or doing a blog sale are both great ideas!
And those dresses are stunning. That first one is my favorite!

Comment by Cafe Fashionista February 6, 2010 @ 9:27 pmHad same problem..got my friends together, held a big garage sale. Most of the items were bought by friends. Had a wonderful time and gave the proceeds to charity. Really felt good about it..
Comment by Olivia February 6, 2010 @ 8:59 pmBeautiful dresses here and I hope your closet purge went well!
Comment by Struggler February 6, 2010 @ 6:08 pmPersonally I am too shy to giveaway my mistakes on my blog, but I’d be interested to know if you try it and it’s a success.
Love the dresses! You should try selling your almost-new clothes on your blog – I know a few other bloggers have done it pretty successfully and this audience will probably appreciate Abaete more than your local consignment store.
Comment by stylesparkler February 6, 2010 @ 4:31 pmI think lots of people have the how-to-get-rid-of-my-good-stuff problem. I won a pair of jeans in a contest that I have never even worn, and no consignment shop in the area will take them. (Current/Elliott is unknown in my area. Sigh.) Craigslist has failed me as well. I don’t want to do the ebay thing for one single item. We need a clothing swap website or something…
Comment by MJ February 6, 2010 @ 12:47 pmThose are so dreamy wedding gowns… I love them. xoxo

Gorgeous!!
Comment by Helena February 6, 2010 @ 12:00 pmSo pretty! I love the open back on the first dress. I usually pass those down to my sister, but what about ebay?
Comment by Marnie February 6, 2010 @ 9:34 amHmmm. I usually giveaway those dresses to a cousin or niece. But you’re right, I have seen some bloggers sell their items on their blog and just charge the shipping to the buyer. That would be a fun thing to start here!
